Summary: |
Anlong Veng, located 130 km north of Siem Reap
was the ultimate ride in 2001. Last stronghold of the Khmer Rouge,
cremation & burial place of Pol
Pot, site of the the KR Radio station, Ta Moks Villa.
De-miners, a New Cambodian Military, Pol Pot not long
dead, made this a very unusual spot.
Progress,
development, investment, a reopened border
on the mountain & migration back to the town , increased
border relation with Thailand means this place is rocking... now a
bustling place. We still have exceptional offroad to get
there,...the main thing & our bikes get us deep
into the Dangrek Mountains. Our guides provide an in-depth, historical background of this area.
Still very much the Hidden Cambodia.

Our old accommodation used to be the site of the Khmer Rouge Radio
Station beside a massive rock outcrop and viewpoint. We
loved it !

1: |
3-4
hour drive to Anlong Veng. Following
lunch, travel up the Dangrek Escarpment.
Extensive tour of the mountain, have dinner locally &
overnight.

Descend
to Anlong Veng Town, visit Ta Mok’s Villa , offroad
through Svay Leu, back to Siem Reap. |
